Random Meals

So here are some random meals that I have had during the Dietbet period. Some tasted good, others not so much.

This last one was my experience with the Ultimate Diet 2.0 by Lyle Mcdonald. Ooh that is a fun ongoing experiment that a lot more will be posted about!

Busy

Everything is ramping up in intensity. School, competitive eating, a search for an out of state job. I really have to manage my time and productivity to make it through until spring break(3/30/12). I feel like there is always something else that I can accomplish. Trying to balance all of these plus other activities takes a toll sometimes. But on a good note, I was able to edit another eating video!

This is the first person, that's right first person, view of a team Packzi Eating contest. Myself and my roommate squared up against a team of competitive eaters Jake "Great Lake" Larry and Tommy "Tommy Boy" Cortina. I actually didn't realize they were there until the contest was over. Let me know what you think of the POV.

This contest felt really good. It turns out that I actually ate 19, not 20, but I did that without dunking. Everyone else dunked. So it felt good. I definitely feel that I have increased my speed a little bit. I am keeping focused on constantly improving.

I also have to re-upload some of my eating videos because of copyrighted songs. So here is my 8th eating challenge, "The Ultimate Kings Omelette" at No Frills Diner in Ogden UT. 12Eggs, Meat, Veggies, Hashbrown, Starch Side, and 20oz Soda.

I felt good about that one! For being only my 8th challenge it felt great. That challenge would be a good beginner challenge for someone who is interested in seeing if they can competitively eat. My job search in actually for Salt Lake City UT for a summer internship so I may go back and try to shave that time down.

Job search seems to be not producing results, but I have to keep trying.

Why am I still up?

So it is 4:01am and I am still awake. With how busy I have been, my schedule has gotten slightly wacky. It seems that I now have two sleeping periods. One from early morning to around noon. And also from 7-8pm to around 12am. It's weird. But a lot of things are on my plate right now which is exciting!

In about a month and a half I will be competing in the Chicken Salad Sandwich Eating Championship put on by Eby-Brown and All-Pro Eating in Michigan City, IN. It is only four hours away which is nice. There will be some ranked All-Pro Eaters there. Will "The Champ" Millender, and my favorite eater Chris "The Mad Greek" Abastas. Chris is still probably upset about losing in Pumpkin Pie in Clarence, NY so it should be a fun competition! You can check out this video chronicling my New York Adventure!

I definitely am going to use that as fuel to get me ready. The current world record is 22 sandwiches in 8 minutes, set by Furious Pete in 2008. Each sandwich is 5oz so he ate 6.875lbs in the 8 minutes. I really would like to push myself and break this world record.

On the DietBet/Fitness side things are going pretty well. Weighed in at 216.5lbs the other day. My weight fluctuates quite a bit, so I think I am on track for the weight loss goal. I am tracking my calories and protein in an Excel spreadsheet. And I can easily see how a day's calories plays into the bigger picture. I had an OK workout today.
Barbell OH Press
120x3
136x3
155x2
Dips
15x3
11x1
9x1
Chin-Ups
10x3
5x2

I missed my goal of 3on my top set of OH press. My shoulders just seem the hardest thing to progress. I keep getting stuck around this point. I do believe this is the strongest they have ever been, although it certainly doesn't feel that way. Endurance seemed down for my Dips and Chins. Maybe just a bad day.

I ate 4500 Calories today. Just a little bit over my target of 3300! But I felt that my body really needed some fuel to rebuild my muscles.

Yummm rebuilding muscles. My legs are still sore from Mondays squat workout! I have an 1800 calorie day planned for 3-15-12 so it will be all good :)

I'll leave you with another song. Although this one is a bit different than the last one!

Dietbet and Spectating an Eating Challenge

Well, I did have some pictures to show you of my main meals. A crockpot stew and pheasant burgers. Unfortunately the camera did not save the photos. Other than that, ate 2500cal today and hit 235grams protein.  Also got my haircut. Pretty productive day. The diet is going well. I really like to see changes in the mirror, that is my motivation to continue on a caloric deficit. I have an extremely busy day from 7:30am-7:00pm+ tomorrow so that may have an effect on what I eat, but we will see. Also tomorrow's workout is my first week of squats on another cycle of Wendler's 531. Ready to pump out 340lbs as many times as I can tomorrow on my top set!

Switching gears a bit, I started up a new channel on YouTube for my fitness and vlogging exploits. I hope to keep progress of the DietBet on there, some workout videos, and just some vlogging. I feel this channel will allow me to more regularly have content. When competitions or challenges aren't close together, people demand more videos! Here is the channel. www.youtube.com/silofitness Appreciate any Subs/Shares/Anything!

Right now you will find the video of my trip to the Pancake Cafe in Fitchburg, WI, and Devin attempting the Pancake Tower Challenge. This dish covered the entire gamut of breakfast foods. All the way from Belgian Waffles to Egg's and Sausage. Check out the video of this delicious looking challenge.

Devin wants to have a rematch against the "Largest Pizza in Wisconsin" at Pizza Shuttle.

They changed the rules  and now allow eaters only one 12oz cup of water. Makes it pretty tough. But, he has improved and I feel that since we came within two crust pieces last time, we can do it.

And I leave you with one of the sickest tracks that I have heard in a while.

3-8-12

So it's Thursday night and I am doing some competitive eating related work. I just finished up making a video of my first ever wing eating competition. It was at Quaker Steak and Lube and competitors had to eat 10 wings and a side of fries. Here is the video.

As you can tell it went well! After I treated myself and some buddies to AYCE(All You Can Eat) wings. They have some delicious wings. Favorite was probably the Haute Parm. The only complaint I have is that after your first order of eight, they bring out your wings in groups of four. Too slow for me. I know that they are trying to reduce the number of wings people eat by letting their stomach catch up to their eyes, but even six would be a better number. Anyways I finished the night of wings off with their Spicy Challenge. The Triple Atomic Wings, rated at 500,000 Scoville Units.Which is anywhere from 62.5-142X hotter than a jalapeno! Probably the spiciest thing that I have ever eaten! But I made it through and won this sweet T-Shirt.

In other news, my DietBet starts tomorrow! I will update this tomorrow with more information. Ready to win some cash while losing some weight!

Hey Hey Hey

This is my blog. It started mostly because of this DietBet that I have coming up. But I think I will keep posting on it. Seems like something cool to do. So this DietBet thing is where players come together and make a bet to lose weight. Anyone who makes the goal(my case %4 of total weight) gets to split the pot. Now I fully intend on making my goal and getting my share of the $1000 pot. It will be interesting to see who can keep up and how much someone will win.

I do feel that the last three weeks I haven't cared one bit about what I ate. Still lifted hard and did either Cardio or a sport 1-2x a week, but just didn't stop eating. That caught up to me. I started changing my calories up on Sunday(3/5/12) and will go into Friday's kickoff with a full head of steam. I feel like I have put a lot of effort into weightlifting and nutrition. I just need to take the final step to get to those lean levels.

I am motivated.
